Love, pain, revenge. The true story of a worker who became the Ultra Trail World Champion at 60 years old.
Marco Olmo is a living legend of extreme running. In his “previous lives”, as he says, he has been a farmer, a truck driver, a workman. Running has became his reason for living, the way to take revenge on his hard destiny. At the age of 58 he has became Ultratrail World Champion, winning the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc, the hardest and most important endurance race in the world, over twenty hours of uninterrupted running, 167 km (over 100 miles) around the tallest mountain in Europe. An almost unimaginable speciality, where mental and physical training and personal motivations are fundamental.
Despite age, physical problems and always younger and more prepared opponents, he doesn’t want to stop. For one year he prepares for the new edition of the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc. This competition, which for two consecutive times has consecreted him as the champion, could become the last of his career. Marco must win, to show himself that he can still do it.
This is his story.

Dissapointing Review by Tim -Australia
How do you Rate this Product Let me say first that I have the greatest respect for Marco. He is an inspiration to all of us through his action and determination under difficult circumstances.
Let's separate the man from the film though.
The DVD is ordinary. The producers can't seem to establish a theme that runs through through the film other than loosely around the UTMB. There are shots of Marco thinking, there are shots of his wife thinking (cue thinking music, or silence) and I suspect shots too obviously taken on different cameras. In other words it comes across to me as a collection of shots rather than a coherent story.
Nothing points out the condition than the last scene which appears as if the makers suddenly lost interest and leaves one wondering whether he goes on to do the next race... or what?
I read the reviews above and bought it on that basis and can see a non runner would view this very differently than a runner.
That said, buy it, and do something different: have your own opinion!

A must have for all who feel 'lost' Review by Dant
How do you Rate this Product I saw the documentary. I strongly recommend it to everybody interested in running, mountain, and above all, to everyone who feels unhappy, unsatisfied with his everyday life. (Posted on 27/06/2010)

The guy is an absolute force of nature. Review by Haymond Lam
How do you Rate this Product I purchased this DVD not knowing what to expect. I have minimal knowledge of ultradistance running, let alone the rigours of trail races. The DVD as the previous reviewer states deals with Marco Olmo a worker at the UNICHEM industrial site, who in his late 50s has an unprecedented resume of race victories and mentions under his belt; most notably he is placed in the top ten runners of the Marathon Des Sables four times in succession. A mean feat when age is factored in.
What was extremely humbling was Olmo's modest and self-effacing demeanour. Through numerous snippets of the film he comes across as reflective/philosophical, humble and yet extremely determined to win the tour of Mont Blanc, a feat he achieved 2 years in succession. His wife can be seen as a staunch supporter ferrying his energy drinks to different checkpoints. There is nothing celebrity about this runner that is the beauty of this film; he has no sponsors, does not eat a strictly prescribed diet and places highly in races for his need to take vengeance, to succeed as Mont Blanc may prove to be his last ever serious race. The undercurrent of this film also deals with poverty, of living lives where options were and are few and one man's absolute determination to show strength in a discipline he very clearly has a gift in amidst a life he clearly finds limiting.
I rate this documentary very highly. The subject matter brings to the fore a man whose positive influence subliminally attracts the attention of the viewer. At the beginning whilst he signs a sizable stack of postcards for a school presentation, upon questioning by the pupils he (roughly from memory) asserts "Influence? If we were to talk about influence like George Clooney, my influence will be so low as to reach the depths of hell." Not quite in my opinion, this film shows what modest, but extremely determined people can achieve.

a must have for all runners! Review by rick - belgium
How do you Rate this Product Very good product!
It is focused on the story of Marco Olmo, 60 year old ultra-trail legend, and his attempt to win the UTMB.
But it's also a great dvd of sport, passion, sacrifice.
It's well done, and entirely subtitled in English (but also French and Spanish)
Very inspirational! (Posted on 27/12/2009)
